How the Team Works
The L.I.V.E. Outreach is volunteer-powered. Founder and Executive Director Malika Williams has led the organization since 2014, and the leadership team around her brings together youth programming, board governance, and community advocacy. Behind them is a wider network of more than 10 mentors and volunteers who keep the programs running.
That work is hands-on. Volunteers sort donated clothing by size, season, and condition so every item is something a child would feel proud to wear. They match donated books to specific kids by age and reading level. They run workshop sessions on Saturdays, staff the annual garage sale, and help out at wellness events, skating parties, and family gatherings across Detroit and Metro Detroit.
The team also extends beyond the people on this page. We work alongside partners at schools, churches, and libraries like the Jefferson Detroit Public Library, and we have received support from The Skillman Foundation, Michigan Nonprofit Association, Eastern Market, and others.
There is always room for more help. If you have a few hours on a Saturday, professional skills to share, or experience with youth programs, get involved or email info@theliveoutreach.org. We will find a place for you.
