What we do for the community.

How Our Programs Fit Together

Every program we run started with a gap that founder Malika Williams saw firsthand, first growing up in foster care, then mentoring at girls' facilities. The toiletry drive exists because many kids and families in the Detroit area go without basic hygiene products. Book donations exist because a lot of kids in our city have never owned a book. The annual garage sale exists because school clothes are expensive and dignity matters, so everything costs $1 and families pick out what they want.

The programs build on each other. Donated toiletries, books, and clothing meet immediate needs. Saturday Learning Sessions go deeper, with 12 weeks of free workshops for ages 10-17 covering financial literacy, book clubs, art therapy, vision boards, and yoga. The Mobile Mentoring Hub, currently being renovated, will carry all of it directly into neighborhoods where transportation keeps families from reaching services.

We serve Detroit and the surrounding Metro Detroit area, with drop-offs based in Eastpointe. We distribute through partners who already know the families they serve: schools, churches, libraries like the Jefferson Detroit Public Library, group homes, and transitional living programs.

Every program accepts volunteers and donations. If you want to support a specific program, get involved or donate and tell us where you want your help to go. For questions about any program, email info@theliveoutreach.org or call 313-952-4564.
