Buy the Book

"I'm just trying to L.I.V.E." is founder Malika Williams' memoir about growing up in the foster care system. It is available on Amazon, and all proceeds go to our programs.

Drop Off Supplies

We accept toiletries, books, and gently used clothing. Email [email protected] or call 313-952-4564 to arrange a drop-off in the Eastpointe, Michigan area.

Where the Money Goes

Donations fund our five programs directly:

  • Toiletry Drive - Buying soap, shampoo, toothbrushes, and other hygiene products in bulk
  • Book Donations - Purchasing high-demand titles when donated inventory runs low
  • Used Clothes Collection - Filling gaps with new essentials like underwear, socks, and winter coats
  • Saturday Learning Sessions - Covering workshop supplies, materials, and snacks for 12-week cycles
  • Mobile Mentoring Hub - Fuel, vehicle maintenance, and supplies for neighborhood visits

Physical donations of toiletries, books, and clothing go straight to kids and families. Financial donations let us fill in the gaps and keep operations running.

Why We Ask

We have been doing this work since 2014 on a small budget. Malika started the organization because she grew up in foster care and knew firsthand what kids in Detroit were missing. We are still a small team doing hands-on work in the community. Every donation, whether it is $5 on Cash App or a bag of toiletries, goes further than you might think.

The L.I.V.E. Outreach is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and all donations are tax-deductible.
